Apple TV: What You Need

To get started with your Apple TV, you will need the following:

1. Widescreen TV
You can connect Apple TV to a widescreen enhanced definition or high definition TV that has:

An HDMI port using an HDMI cable for both video and audio

OR

Component video (Y, Pb, and Pr) ports using a component video cable with green, blue, and red connectors, and an audio cable

OR

DVI port using an HDMI-to-DVI cable for video and audio cable

OR

You can also connect Apple TV to a home theater receiver.

2. Computer + iTunes

A Macintosh computer - Mac OS X system software version 10.3.9, or 10.4.8 or later - 1 Ghz Power PC G4 or G5, or an Intel processor - QuickTime 7.1.5 or later - 256 MB of RAM - 16 MB of Video RAM

OR

A Windows-based computer with: - Windows XP (Home or Professional, with SP2) - 2.0 Ghz Pentium processor or better - QuickTime 7.1.5 or later (included with iTunes 7.1) - 512 MB of RAM and 32 MB of Video RAM

AND

iTunes 7.1.1 or later, with an iTunes account and iTunes content, such as movies, TV shows, and music, is recommended

3. Network
Wireless or Ethernet network

AND

Broadband internet connection (DSL, Cable, LAN)

4. Cables
HDMI-to-HDMI cable

OR

HDMI-to-DVI cable and analog stereo or optical digital audio

OR

Component video cable and analog stereo or optical digital audio
